About Us
Neil & Patsy Beall, original owners of Bealls, began serving Sabine County with quality furniture and appliances in 1976. They sold their home, quit their jobs, and invested all they had into a new business venture. It was sink or swim. Nelsyn Wade of San Augustine, gave his blessing, and sold Neil his first load of furniture to sell in Sabine County. With God's grace, their determination, and the goodwill of the local comminities, Beall's Furniture began to grow. After expanding twice, they built the current 25,000 square foot store in Hemphill, Texas. Neil and Patsy's three children watched as their parent's business grew and succeeded. Although, most of their parent’s time was given to the struggle of operating the family business, through the years, they came to have a great respect for the family business and the related demanding work ethic. By 1989, all three of their children had returned to work in the family business. In the fall of 1990, Neil retired from full-time duty. He transferred his authority to his son Tom Beall as President, his son-in-law Daryl Melton, Vice President of Operations and his daughter and son-in-law, Vic and Celeste Waller, Vice President of Sales, and CFO. Due to the increased need for furniture in the East Texas area, this new leadership committed to continue to grow and support the stores’ enlarging work force and family. In April 1990, Beall's opened their second location 45 miles away in Jasper, Texas. In May 1996, the Jasper location moved into their current 28,000 square foot building, complete with Broyhill and La-Z-Boy Galleries. It is this location that is currently selling out its inventory to renovate and re-stock as a licensed Ashley Home Store. Beall’s also provides a Bargain Outlet store in Jasper, Bealls Bargain Barn down the street from their current location. The year of 1998, marked significant growth for Bealls. The Beall family was able to return the generosity of Nelsyn Wade, and allow Nelsyn to retire by purchasing Nelsyn’s Furniture in San Augustine. It was during this time, the Lufkin market provided an opportunity for growth. They purchased land on Loop 287 in Lufkin, and opened a new furniture store, complete with three in store gallaries, in December, 2001. The success and growth of the furniture industry lead to their recent partnership with Lack’s Furniture operating out of this location beginning this May, 2006. This move is allowing Beall’s to channel their growth under the Ashley Homestore Licencesed Dealer program. |
